Job Description
Do you enjoy solving complex mechanical and electrical faults while ensuring critical systems continue running around the clock?
Then this could be your next challenge.
We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician to join one of Europe's most advanced automated logistics operations. Here, large-scale automation systems keep air cargo, warehouse logistics, and high-throughput distribution moving 24/7.
You'll work on complex conveyor systems, automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS), cranes, shuttles, and intelligent control systems where reliability, precision, and uptime are essential.
About the role
As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving highly automated logistics installations operating continuously.
This is a hands-on role where you'll combine mechanical maintenance with electrical fault finding to minimize downtime and maximize system performance.
You are expected to work independently, identify root causes of technical issues, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. No two shifts are the same, and your expertise directly impacts the performance of a mission-critical operation.
What will you do?
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automated logistics systems
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults on conveyors, cranes, motors, drives, sensors, and automated handling equipment
- Inspect installations and identify wear, defects, and potential failures before they lead to downtime
- Replace and repair mechanical components such as bearings, chains, rollers, belts, gearboxes, and drive systems
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation
- Perform basic electrical troubleshooting on motors, sensors, actuators, and control components
- Record maintenance activities using the maintenance management system (CMMS)
- Contribute to continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain high housekeeping standards
What do we expect from you?
- MBO Level 3 or 4 in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a comparable technical discipline
- Several years of experience as a Maintenance Technician, Service Technician, or Industrial Mechanic in an automated production or logistics environment
- Strong mechanical maintenance skills combined with electrical troubleshooting experience
- Experience working with conveyors, automated machinery, production equipment, or material handling systems
- Ability to read electrical drawings and technical documentation
- A proactive, analytical, and solution-oriented approach to troubleshooting
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating within a technical team
- Willingness to work in a 5-shift schedule (3-4-3 rotation)
- Dutch or English communication skills
What do we offer?
- Salary up to €4,600 gross per month, including shift allowance, depending on experience
- Work with state-of-the-art automated logistics and material handling systems
- A technically challenging role with a high level of responsibility
- 27 vacation days
- Travel allowance (85% compensation based on travel time)
- Pension scheme according to the Dutch Metal & Engineering Collective Labour Agreement (CAO Metaal & Techniek)
- Long-term employment with an international technical organization
- A close-knit team of experienced maintenance professionals
- Ongoing technical training, certifications, and opportunities for career development
