Job Description

You don't fix the press. You make sure the customer gets the most out of it.

Our client is an international manufacturer of high-end digital printing presses for the print and packaging industry. Its digital printing business is growing rapidly, and we are looking for an Application Specialist who understands what it takes to turn printing technology into a successful production application.

This is not a Service Engineer role. You won't be responsible for repairing machines or troubleshooting mechanical and electrical failures.

Instead, you are the person who understands how customers want to print, what the application requires, and how to make the press deliver the right result.

Your role

You are the application expert between the customer, Sales, Service and Product Management.

You demonstrate what the technology can do, translate customer requirements into practical print applications and help customers get their production up and running successfully.

What you'll do

• Prepare and run customer-specific print demonstrations
• Develop print samples and application scenarios based on real customer requirements
• Advise customers on the best way to produce their applications on the digital press
• Support customers during production start-up and application ramp-up
• Analyse print results and help improve quality, colour consistency, productivity and workflow
• Work with substrates, inks/toners, colour management and digital print workflows
• Translate customer requirements into practical recommendations for Sales and Product Management
• Capture application knowledge and turn it into guidelines, demo material and best practices
• Support Sales during customer visits, exhibitions and demonstrations
• Share application knowledge with colleagues across the European organisation
• Help build and improve the application processes within a growing digital printing team

You will regularly visit customers and company locations across Europe. Travel is an important part of the role, but your focus is always on the application and the customer not on repairing the machine.

You could also come from a production environment where you have developed strong expertise in digital printing applications.

Your experience

• Experience with industrial digital printing
• Good understanding of print production and customer applications
• Experience with colour management and print quality
• Understanding of digital print workflows and workflow integration
• Experience with substrates/media and their impact on print results
• Ability to create and present convincing print demonstrations
• Knowledge of UV inkjet is a strong advantage
• Comfortable working directly with customers and production teams
• Fluent in English; German or French is a strong plus
• Willingness to travel regularly within Europe

Most importantly, you are an application person, not a machine engineer.

You don't need to be the person who knows every component inside the press. You need to understand what the customer wants to achieve and how to make the technology deliver it.

What you get

• Salary up to €4,400 gross per month, depending on experience and education
• Company car
• Hybrid working options
• 30+ vacation days
• One-year contract with the intention of a permanent position afterwards
• A key role in a growing and strategic digital printing business
• An international environment with customers and colleagues across Europe
• Training and development opportunities
• The opportunity to grow into a senior application or leadership role
