Job Description
About the role
Our client is an international company specialising in offshore solutions and services for the maritime industry. From its base in the Rotterdam region, the company supports customers and projects across Europe.
We are looking for a hands-on Service Engineer with a strong mechanical background and practical experience working on heavy vehicles, machinery and hydraulic systems.
You do not necessarily need experience in the maritime or offshore industry. The most important thing is that you understand mechanics and hydraulics, can troubleshoot technical problems and are not afraid to get your hands dirty.
You will spend approximately 30% of your time travelling throughout Europe to support customers on-site. All business-related travel expenses and costs are compensated by the company.
Key responsibilities
-
Carry out maintenance, inspections, repairs and troubleshooting on mechanical and hydraulic systems.
-
Diagnose and resolve technical issues involving heavy vehicles, machinery and specialised equipment.
-
Perform service and repair work both in the workshop and at customer locations across Europe.
-
Work with hydraulic components, systems and installations.
-
Support commissioning, testing and technical adjustments of equipment.
-
Communicate directly with customers and colleagues to ensure service activities are completed efficiently.
-
Prepare service reports and document completed work.
-
Travel internationally when required, approximately 30% of the time.
Your profile
-
Technical education or practical experience in Mechanical Engineering, Vehicle Technology, Agricultural Engineering, Mobile Machinery or a similar field.
-
Strong hands-on experience with heavy vehicles, machinery and mechanical systems.
-
Good practical knowledge of hydraulic systems.
-
Able to independently diagnose faults and carry out mechanical and hydraulic repairs.
-
Experience with trucks, cranes, construction machinery, agricultural machinery, lifting equipment or other heavy-duty vehicles is highly relevant.
-
Shipbuilding, maritime or offshore experience is a plus, but not a requirement.
-
Fluent English is essential, as you will communicate with customers and colleagues across Europe.
-
Willing and able to travel throughout Europe approximately 30% of the time.
-
A practical, direct and no-nonsense mentality: you take responsibility, get things done and focus on finding solutions.
-
Independent, flexible and customer-oriented working attitude.
What we offer
-
Direct employment with the client, not a temporary agency placement.
-
A long-term opportunity, with the intention of offering a permanent contract.
-
An international technical role in the offshore and maritime industry.
-
Approximately 30% European travel, with all business-related travel expenses and costs compensated.
-
A varied position involving mechanical and hydraulic equipment.
-
Opportunities to develop your technical knowledge and grow professionally.
-
A friendly, informal and down-to-earth working environment.
