Job Description

About the job

Are you an experienced Field Service Engineer with a strong mechanical and hydraulic background? Do you enjoy working with your hands and have an interest in boats, marine equipment and technical installations?

Then this could be your next career move!

Our client is an international company specialising in offshore solutions and marine technology. Based in the Rotterdam region, they are looking for a hands-on Field Service Engineer to join their team.

You will work on mechanical and hydraulic installations for boats and specialised marine equipment, combining workshop activities with exciting projects at customer locations throughout Europe.

You don't necessarily need experience in the maritime industry. If you have a background in mechanical engineering, hydraulics, heavy machinery, trucks, cranes or construction equipment, your experience could be exactly what we are looking for.

The key is strong mechanical knowledge, practical hydraulic experience and a genuine interest in working on boats and marine installations.

Your responsibilities

  • Install, maintain and repair mechanical and hydraulic systems.

  • Carry out mechanical and hydraulic installations on boats and marine equipment.

  • Perform maintenance, inspections and technical troubleshooting.

  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical and hydraulic faults.

  • Work with hydraulic pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, hoses and other hydraulic components.

  • Support equipment installation, commissioning, testing and adjustments.

  • Perform service and repair work both in the workshop and at customer locations.

  • Travel to shipyards, ports and customer sites throughout Europe.

  • Communicate with customers and colleagues to ensure installations and service activities run smoothly.

  • Prepare service reports and document completed work.

Approximately 30% of your time will involve travelling throughout Europe. All business-related travel expenses and costs are covered by the company.

Your profile

We are looking for a practical and independent engineer or technician who enjoys mechanical engineering, hydraulics and technical problem-solving.

You ideally have:

  • A technical education or practical experience in Mechanical Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, Vehicle Technology, Agricultural Engineering or a similar field.

  • Strong hands-on experience with mechanical systems and machinery.

  • Good practical knowledge and experience with hydraulic systems is essential.

  • Experience with mechanical repairs, hydraulic maintenance and troubleshooting.

  • Experience with heavy machinery, industrial equipment or technical installations.

  • Experience with trucks, cranes, excavators, construction machinery, agricultural machinery, lifting equipment or similar heavy-duty equipment is highly relevant.

  • Knowledge of hydraulic pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, hoses and mechanical drives is an advantage.

  • Maritime, shipbuilding or offshore experience is a plus, but not a requirement.

  • Good command of English, both spoken and written.

  • Willingness to travel approximately 30% throughout Europe.

  • An independent, flexible and customer-oriented working attitude.

  • A practical, hands-on mentality: you enjoy solving problems and getting the job done.

What we offer

  • Salary up to €4,200 gross per month, depending on experience and technical background.

  • Direct employment with the client – no temporary agency placement.

  • A long-term opportunity with the intention of offering a permanent contract.

  • An exciting technical position within the international marine and offshore industry.

  • The opportunity to work on boat installations and specialised marine equipment.

  • A varied combination of mechanical engineering, hydraulics, installations and field service.

  • Approximately 30% international travel throughout Europe.

  • All business-related travel expenses and costs covered by the company.

  • Opportunities to develop your technical knowledge and grow within the maritime industry.

  • A friendly, informal and down-to-earth working environment.
